Dr. Aline Talhouk, PhD
Principal Investigator

Dr. Talhouk is an assistant professor in the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the director of data science and informatics at OVCARE, BC’s ovarian and gynaecological cancer research program.

Dr. Elise Abi Khalil, PhD
Research Coordinator

Elise Abi Khalil is a research coordinator in the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Faculty of Medicine, UBC. She joined the OVCARE group in 2021 where she assists in coordinating research studies and implements project plans, timelines and budgets.

Samuel Leung, MSc
Data Manager

Samuel completed a M.Sc. in computer science at the University of Victoria in 2006. He has worked as software engineer in Motorola Canada (2000-2002) and has joined the Genetic Pathology Evaluation Centre as data manager in 2005.

Derek Chiu, MSc
Statistical Analyst

Derek completed an M.Sc. in statistics at the University of British Columbia in 2016. He has since been working at the BC Cancer Research Centre, analyzing data to find patterns that can help ovarian cancer patients.

Shan Wang, MSc
Data Analyst and Coordinator

Shan’s primary interests and work focus on building centralized and integrated database, which provides different kinds of standard data and serves stakeholders from various research institutions.

Arabella Helgason, BSc
Clinical Research Assistant

Arabella graduated with a BSc in Biology from UBC and is a Clinical Research Assistant in the Talhouk Lab in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, assisting in various clinical research projects.

Dwayne Tucker
PhD Candidate, UBC

Dwayne Tucker is a PhD Candidate in the Women+ and Children’s Health Sciences program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, co-supervised by Dr. Paul Yong and Dr. Aline Talhouk. 

Dollina Dodani
PhD Student, UBC

Dollina completed her undergraduate studies in computing science and molecular biology & biochemistry at Simon Fraser University and is now a PhD student in bioinformatics at the University of British Columbia.

Rachel Woima
MSc. Student, UBC

Rachel graduated with an Honours degree in Biomedical Science with a minor in Psychology from the University of Waterloo. Rachel’s passion for Women’s health and cancer screening inspired her to pursue graduate studies in the field at the University of British Columbia. 

Sabine Halabi
MSc. Student, UBC

Sabine completed her Honours Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto with a major in Human Biology and a double minor in Immunology and Mathematics. She is currently a MSc student in Reproductive and Developmental Sciences at the University of British Columbia.

Karman Johal
BSc. Student, UBC

Karman is a 4th year undergraduate at UBC pursuing a degree in Biology. She is currently working part-time in the Talhouk Lab to assist with ongoing projects related to risk factor recognition and symptom monitoring for endometrial cancer.

Tanvi Khurana
BKin. + MM Student, UBC

Tanvi is a Patient Navigator & Research Assistant in the Uterine Health Research Lab. She is currently a fourth-year student in the Bachelor of Kinesiology + Master of Management program at the University of British Columbia. 

Pamela Bai
BSc. Student, UBC

Pamela is a 4th year undergraduate student at UBC pursuing a degree in Pharmacology, with a goal to become an OBGYN. She is currently working part-time in the Talhouk Lab to assist with ongoing projects related to uterine cancer in postmenopausal women.
